But it says it earns cash back?!
These are marketed as a cash-back cards, but if you have another card that earns Venture miles (like the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card), you can convert the cash back you earn from the Capital One Spark Cash Plus into Capital One Venture miles.
Both cards earn 2x miles on every purchase, so once you meet the minimum spend requirement you could have a massive stack of Capital One Miles for travel.
That’s enough for up to SIX round trip tickets to Europe or even 2 round trip lie flat business class seats to Europe with points to spare….hollyyyyyyy vacation!
Converting Cash Back to Venture Miles
Log into your Capital One online account and select “View Rewards.” Select your Spark Cash Plus account, then select “Combine rewards.”
Choose to move your “cash back” to your Venture card – That’s it!
***Even if you don’t currently have the Venture or Venture X, after applying for the Capital One Spark Cash or Capital One Spark Cash Plus, in 6 months snag one of those cards to turn that cash back into even more valuable TRANSFERRABLE miles.
Capital One Card Need to Knows
- 👉🏼 Capital One will only approve you for a new credit card every 6 months
- 👉🏼 You cannot hold the Venture X Business card and Spark Cash Plus at the same time
(remember cancelling business cards does NOT impact your personal credit…another reason they are a game changer!)
Next, I recommend freezing your Experian credit before applying! Data points show that there may be increased odds of approval by doing this, especially if you have had a number of recent credit inquires with Chase. You can do this in one click easily HERE!
LAST NOTE: This is a charge card, which means there will be no credit limit, however you must pay your balance in full every month
How to Maximize your Capital One Miles
I loveeee our Capital One Miles for flights and find I can 2x or 3x our travel when transferring these miles to airline partners of my card.
- Transfer miles to Air France/KLM to book flights to Europe for your family for a fraction of the actual cost (25% discount on kids tickets with their Family Plan)- saving on Europe flights HERE!
- Transfer miles to Air Canada to book business class flights to Australia or New Zealand for 75,000 points one way per person
- Transfer miles to Virgin Atlantic to book the cheappessttttt flights to London possible (starting at 6,000 one way per person!!)
- Transfer miles to Wyndham to book an all inclusive or condo-style property!
- My other favorite use of Venture miles is to “reimburse ourselves” for some of those harder to save on travel expenses, like Airbnbs and Disney tickets. I have some deep dives on saving on vacation rentals HERE and saving on Disney HERE! Although, this won’t get you the BEST return on your points (10,000 miles = $100 in savings)…sometimes free is FREE amirite?!
