Okayyyy — real talk 💭 If you’ve been sitting on a pile of Capital One miles and cashing them out to “erase” your travel expenses…
I love you, but we need to chat. ☕
Although I am a big advocate for using your points + miles in the way that serves your family best – THIS IS leaving-serious-travel-value-on-the-table.
And with the brand new Capital One Venture Business card on the scene (a points-earning opportunity that literally did not exist before!)…
A LOT of you are about to have a LOT of miles to use.
🙌 Let’s make sure every single one stretches as far as it possibly can.
Mom-to-mom, beginner-friendly, zero-jargon. Let’s go. ✈️
Capital One Venture miles are one of the most flexible, beginner-friendly currencies in the points game.
You earn them on many Capital One travel cards — the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, or the new Capital One Venture Business.
→ Capital One has 15+ airline and hotel transfer partners (many at a 1:1 ratio — meaning 1 Venture mile = 1 partner mile).
This is the KEY to really maximizing these miles 🔓
Instead of using your miles at a flat 1 cent each to reimburse yourself for travel, you can transfer them to a partner airlines and hotels to and book flights + stays that would’ve cost waaaay more in cash.
Sometimes 3x, 5x, even 10x the value.
Listennnnn- I know it feels SO satisfying. Scroll your statement. Tap “cover this with miles.” Watch the travel charge disappear.
Dopamine hit! Instant gratification!
But that little button is costing you. BIG time.
Here’s the quick math to tattoo on your brain:
→ Reimbursing Yourself = 1 cent per mile (the floor)
→ Capital One Travel portal = 1 cent per mile (same floor, but at least it’s a flight)
→ Transfer to an airline partner = 2 to 5+ cents per mile (the whole reason we’re here)
Same 75,000 miles.
Reimburse Yourself → $750 in travel.
Transfer to an airline partner → $1,500, $2,000, sometimes $3,000+ in real flight value. 🤯
If you’re really wanting to eek the VERY most value out of your miles…this is KEY 💯
Here’s the short list of the BEST ways to redeem your Venture miles:
→ Transfer to airline partners for 3-10x value on business class flights
→ Transfer to airline partners for loads of cheapppp domestic flights
→ Transfer to iPrefer for boutique luxury stays at HALF the cost (1:2 transfer ratio!)
→ Transfer to Wyndham for sweet spot all-inclusives
Let’s break each one down with real examples. 👇
This will be hands down the BIGGEST flex of your Venture miles (or any flexible points for that matter)
Business class tickets to Europe and Asia often cost $3,000-$8,000 in cash.
But with the right transfer partner?
You can book them for 60k-100k miles….instead of 300-800,000 miles each🤯

Examples:
→ Air Canada Aeroplan — 60k miles in business class from the East Coast (or 70k from the West Coast) to Europe on Lufthansa or Swiss (lowwww out of pocket taxes!)
→ Air France-KLM Flying Blue — 60k miles in Promo Reward business class seats to Paris and Amsterdam (many times you can add on a connection to another European city for no additional cost)
→ Japan Airlines — Top tier business class seats to Japan starting at only 55k miles and low fees one way (Make sure you wait for a JAL transfer bonus so you can transfer at a ~1:1 ratio!)
Save these for anniversary trips, milestone birthdays, once-in-a-lifetime family vacations.
Clutchhhhh….and literally travel magic 🙌
Don’t have international trips on the calendar?
…your Venture miles are also AMAZING for domestic flights.

Examples:
→ Virgin Atlantic — transfer to Virgin, then book Delta domestic flights at FAR lower rates than with Delta directly
→ Avianca LifeMiles — short-haul United flights for as low as 7,500 miles
→ Qantas — transfer here to book One World or American Airlines flights you might not be able to otherwise (AA miles can be trickier to earn so this is a great backdoor option!)
Perfect for family weekend trips, visits to grandma, quick beach escapes.
Stretch those miles farrrr. When you have to multiply everything by x4, x5, x6 EVERY bit of savings help right?! 👏
Okay this one is the sneaky-good one.
iPrefer is a boutique hotel loyalty program with gorgeous independent properties all over the world.
And Capital One transfers at a 1:2 ratio.
Meaning every 1 Venture mile = 2 iPrefer points. 👀

Examples:
→ Beachfront boutique resorts in Greece, Italy, Mexico
→ Luxury Napa Valley stays for your anniversary
→ European options in areas with fewer “traditional points options”
Rooms that run $500+/night in cash? Can book for half the “normal” miles cost thanks to that sweet 1:2 bump. 💛

Wyndham is really an MVP sleeper in the travel world….peep below for some less talked about hotel options using your Venture miles!
Transfer your Venture miles 1:1 to Wyndham and unlock some solid deals (especially if you need some SPACE when you travel!). Wyndham has timeshare properties through WorldMark and Club Wyndham that are bookable on points and offer CONDO style rooms!
Points Rates for WorldMark and Club Wyndham Properties:
One Bedroom – 15,000 points/night
Two Bedrooms – 30,000 points/night
Three Bedrooms – 45,000 points/night

Examples:
→ Club Wyndham Shearwater in Princeville Kauai (GORGEOUS area)
→ Shell Vacation Club Holua Resort in Kona, Hawaii (More Hawaii!)
→ Club Wyndham Great Smokies Lodge in Sevierville, TN (Great Smoky Mountain National Park is a 10/10)
→ Wyndham Grand Costa Del Sol, Mijas Costa, Spain (LOVE this area of Spain)
Many all-inclusive properties start at around 30,000 Wyndham points per night for two guests. Although there are a fewwww that start around 15,000 Wyndham points per night!
Transfer to Wyndham at a 1:1 ratio and book an all inclusive vacay (without the cash price tag!)

Examples:
→ Wyndham Grand Crete Mirabello Bay
→ Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana
→ Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen
If you’re looking for new, unique hotel redemptions (covered in POINTS, instead of your pay check!!) Wyndham is your new best friend. 🙌
If you’re going to maximize your Venture miles, step one is…
Having a lot of them. 😅
Good news: Capital One has an entire family of cards that all earn into the same Venture mile bucket. Meaning you can stack welcome bonuses across multiple cards and pool ALL those miles together (with yourself AND anyone else for that matter!).
→ Just keep in mind Capital One DOES have a 1 in 6 rule: They will only approve you for a new card every 6 months. So space your applications accordingly!
Here they are, in order from easiest-to-snag to most-advanced. 👇
The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card is my first pick for beginners.
→ Low $95 annual fee
→ 2x miles on EVERY purchase (no categories to track!)
→ The “set it and forget it” card for busy moms
KEY!: Earn the welcome bonus on THIS one before moving up to the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card.
The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card looks expensive ($395/year) but pays for itself.
→ $300 annual travel credit
→ 10,000 anniversary miles (worth $100+)
→ Access to 1,300+ Priority Pass + Capital One Lounges
→ Visa Infinite travel protections
Do the math: $300 + $100 = $400 back, fee paid for. 💡
Snag this AFTER you’ve bonused the Venture Rewards.
We loveeee a brand new card 🙂
The Capital One Venture Business is Capital One’s brand new business card.
→ 2x miles on EVERY purchase
→ Does not report to your personal credit or 5/24 status!
→ A HUGE welcome bonus and low annual fee that can fund serious family travel
→ Miles pool into your personal Venture stash for transfers
Have ANY kind of side gig? Etsy, MLM work, photography, dog walking, reselling — all counts as a sole proprietor.
See if you qualify for business cards (I’m guessing you DO) 👉 right here.
The Capital One Venture X Business is the business version of the personal Venture X.
→ Same premium lounge access
→ Same Visa Infinite travel protections
→ Plus bonus earning for business spend
Running a business with real monthly expenses? (software subs, ads, inventory)
This card earns fast AND allows you to bring 2 guests in those Priority Pass lounges with you (HUGE perk!).
Game changer for international travel with kiddos. ✈️
Okay this one’s the advanced play. But SO worth knowing about.
The Capital One Spark Cash Plus technically earns cash back.
BUT — when paired with a miles-earning card in the Capital One family? That cash back converts to Venture miles you can transfer to airlines and hotels. 🤯
Essentially 2% cash back that ALSO flies your family to Europe.
Wildddd. Home run for business owners with bigger monthly spend.
SO cannnn you use your Venture miles to “reimburse yourself” 1:1 for those travel expenses?! ABSOLUTELY.
And sometimes the season calls for it, and that’s your BEST move.
BUT if you are interested in getting max value out of those Venture miles…pocket these redemptions for future BIG travel pay off!
