Hi Im Abby
Your āalways finding the best dealā friend!
This guide will teach you all about loyalty points and how to score epic vacations for next to nothing.
Some good news in points and miles for once!! š
As of October 15th, you can transfer Hyatt points to any other World of Hyatt member right on Hyatt’s website. No more PDF form, no more signatures from both people, and no more emailing it in and waiting days to see if it went through.
It takes a few minutes, there’s no fee, and the points usually land within 24 hours.
If you’ve ever been 12,000 points short of a Hyatt stay while your husband had 40,000 sitting in his account⦠this one’s for you.
What changed with Hyatt points transfers?
Hyatt has always let members combine points, but the process was clunkyyyy.
They lived in the Dark Ages – You downloaded a form, BOTH people filled it out and signed it, and then you emailed it (or mailed it!) to Hyatt and waited. Usually 48 to 72 hours, sometimes longer.
….yes insane.
ā Now it’s a quick online form (!!!!)
You don’t need to be related, and you don’t need to live at the same address. (This is BIG, because Chase only lets you combine points with one person in your household.) Grandparents, siblings, the best friend whose family is coming on the trip⦠anyone with a World of Hyatt account.
How to transfer Hyatt points online (step by step)
Sign in to your World of Hyatt account.
Go to Hyatt’s Purchase & Gift Points page and click “Gift Your Points.”
Enter the recipient’s first name, last name, email address, and World of Hyatt member number. These need to match their account exactly.
Choose how many points to send.
Review and confirm.
FINALLY no more PDF forms!!
That’s it. Points move 1:1 (1,000 of yours = 1,000 of theirs).
The rules to know before you send
Minimum 1,000 points, then in 500-point increments
Up to 525,000 points sent AND 525,000 received per calendar year
One transfer per calendar month, up to six per year
Both accounts must be open at least 60 days (i.e. if your friend opens a brand new account just to send you points, she’ll need to wait two months)
Most transfers post within 24 hours, but some get flagged for review and can take up to 10 business days
The easiest way to stack Hyatt points is with Chase, since Chase points transfer to Hyatt. Move them to your Hyatt account, and then you can share them with anyone on the trip.
Chase Sapphire ReserveĀ® transfers to Hyatt at 1:1, so every Chase point becomes a full Hyatt point.
The Chase Sapphire PreferredĀ® Card is still my #1 first card for beginners. It now transfers to Hyatt at 4:3 (100,000 Chase points = 75,000 Hyatt points), and I broke down everything that changed in my post on the Chase Sapphire PreferredĀ® Card changes.
ā”ļø You can now transfer Hyatt points online to ANY World of Hyatt member, no form needed ā”ļø There’s no fee, points move 1:1, and up to 525,000 a year ā”ļø Plan around one transfer a month and up to 10 business days if it gets reviewed
Finally a points change we can ALL celebrate!! š
