Airport lounge access for families can be a total travel game changer (a quiet space away from the airport chaos, complimentary food and drinks, cleannnnn bathrooms – YES PLZ)

But with lots of recent card changes, it’s harder than ever for families specifically to get that lounge access without the massive price tag.

I want lounge access that’s —

and as REALISTIC as possible to maintain

I think when it comes to getting the MOST family members into airport lounges worldwide, this is a solid strategy moving forward!

Capital One Lounge Access Strategy for Families

Really powerful, yet simple two card strategy with strategic Capital One cards, let’s break this down!

I really like focusing on Priority Pass access for my family, because it’s the most extensive lounge network worldwide. 1,700 lounges in over 600 cities across 145+ countries.

So no matter where we are traveling, we can (likely) take advantage of this huge travel perk!

• Partner 1 holds the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card
  • 🚨🚨 LIMITED TIME ELEVATED OFFER! — Earn 100,000 bonus miles once you spend $10,000 on purchases in the first 6 months from account opening – equal to $1,000 in travel
  • This gets ONE person Capital One + Priority Pass Lounge access worldwide

• Partner 2 holds the Capital One Venture X Business
  • 🚨🚨 LIMITED-TIME ELEVATED OFFER! — Earn up to 400K bonus miles: 200K miles when you spend $30K in the first 3 months, and an additional 200k miles when you spend $150k in the first 6 months
  • This gets ONE person Capital One + Priority Pass lounge access (**plus two free guests into those Priority Pass lounges – this is KEY!!)

This is a STEEP minimum spend 1000%…and honestly may not be realistic for many.

However, definitely get creative and think about how you might meet that big spend (especially this time of year!)

• Christmas expenses
• End of year giving + contributions
• Property taxes in the new year
• End of year business taxes
• Prepaying premiums for the year

So how do I get my whole family into the lounge?

• So now with the two cards above you are at 4 people with free Priority Pass Access (again for families, I think this is the most value packed focus)

• Depending on how often your family travels it could make sense to pay for just ONE additional guest ($35)… you’re for sureeee going to spend at least $35 for food for a family of 5 at the airport so you might as well get a quiet space away from the chaos and cleannnn bathrooms!

• If you travel more than 3 times a year as a family, it makes more financial sense to rather add one of the kids as an authorized user on the Capital One Venture X to get that unlimited access! ($125)

• Obviously you could get an entire family of 6 into those 1300+ Priority Pass lounges worldwide for free with BOTH partners being Venture X Business card holders- but with the steeper minimum spend on that card, that likely isn’t realistic for most families (an option nonetheless though!)

What about Capital One lounges though?

This is a big loss with the changes coming in February honestly, and not much way around it for larger families.

Even with the more generous free Priority Pass guest access on the Venture X Business– that doesn’t get those guests complimentary into Capital One lounges (only 6 lounges currently throughout the US).

• HOWEVER, on the Capital One Lounges, they offer a fantastic grab and go section – so instead of paying $$$ to get the whole fam into those few lounges, I personally would send a parent in to grab some free meals for the whole fam!

I really like this strategy because the Capital One Venture X cards are just SO simple….and SO value packed.

➡️ Wildly easy to use annual credits to offset that annual fee

➡️ $300 no-brainer coupon to use in the portal and 10,000 anniversary points, pretty effortlessly bringing the annual fee effectively to $5 yearly — IDEAL for busy families.
