Call me dramatic, but traveling with credit card points and miles has quite literally changed our lives. Going from barely being able to take one simple Florida vacation a year, to now 3-5 bucket list vacations annually has been, like I said, life-changing.
We use our normal everyday spending to earn large juicy welcome offers on new credit cards and then use those points for their MAX travel potential by transferring them out to airline and hotel partners of that card. I.e. transforming our Target runs into DREAM family vacations.
Truly, this is SO much easier than you think! So let’s dive into one of the most valuable ways to earn your family some nearly free travel!
The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card is SUCH a valuable offer if you are interested in racking up a ton of points for some nearly free travel. The Ink Unlimited is in the family of Chase Ink business cards that includes the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, and the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card.
In this post in particular, we are going to zone in on the Unlimited card specifically (although the others are equally valuable!)
The Chase Ink Unlimited ® card has NO annual fee and offers usually anywhere from a 75,000-90,000 point welcome offer!
So yes, that is a huggeeee load of points for travel for literally FREE! There are some nuances to this card though so let’s dive into some FAQ’s below!
(If you are already thinking well waiiitttt a second, I don’t have a business. NOT SO FAST! Stay tuned because I am going to show you how nearly ANYONE can be eligible for business credit cards!
Aside from the VERY juicy (very free) welcome offer for some crazy discounted travel, this card also offers 1.5x points on EVERY purchase. Anytime I am earning more than 1x points on a purchase, it is a good thing. It also provides a total of 5% Cash Back on Lyft rides through March 2025.
Some other valuable perks include rental car insurance, purchase protection, and extended warranty protection!
Although this card does provide you access to Chase TravelSM in order to use your points to book travel, the REAL value is when you transfer those points out to airline and hotel partners of your card.
(Think paying 25,000 points a night for a luxury hotel instead of 100,000 points a night in the portal. Or paying 40,000 points and taxes for a flight to Europe versus sucking up 120,000 points a ticket by purchasing that ticket in the portal…SUCH a game changer!)
Now the Chase Ink Unlimited does not provide you the ability to transfer points out to airline and hotel partners ALONE. However, if you hold a Chase card like the personal Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card you can move those points over to one of those transferrable points cards and get SO much more value out of them.
So it goes like this…
NOTE: If you do not have a “homebase” Chase card that allows you to transfer points to airline and hotel partners yet, don’t fret! It does NOT matter the order you get these cards in! So you can say snag the no annual fee Unlimited card FIRST during an elevated offer, and they get the say Sapphire after!
Truly, if I could get you to understand ANYTHING about points and miles (other than the sheer game changing power of TRANSFERRING those points out!) it would be this-
Business cards are the most POWERFUL tool to have in your pocket when it comes to saving on travel. And MOST PEOPLE are eligible for business cards, despite what you may initially think!
Do you need a “business” to open a business credit card? YES.
However, you probably have a “business” that qualifies without even knowing it! ANY means you make money outside of a W-2 qualifies you for business cards!
Sell a few things on FB Marketplace every year? Make some cash from dropping off your kids’ old clothes to a resale shop? Take on 1-2 freelance clients annually? Do some photography on the side?
Literally NO side hustle is too small!
This is hugeeeee…because many times business card welcome bonuses offer a VERY large load of points, for lower annual fees than some personal cards. As well, once you are approved business cards do not impact your personal credit long term!!
Can you see ALL THE TRAVEL POTENTIAL!?
We have been leveraging business cards for SO much nearly free travel the past few years!! And YOU can too! (some people have even been approved with reporting as little as $100 annually! The important part is to always just be HONEST– don’t inflate any numbers in the hopes of an increased odds of approval!)
At a very minimum you can use those points in Chase TravelSM for a 1:1 exchange on your points for travel. So if you had say snagged an elevated 90,000 offer on the Chase Unlimited card, at a MINIMUM, you could use that 90,000 points for $900 in travel.
(YES, an basically FREE $900! Like I said, total no brainer!)
Howeverrrrr, because you follow me and we are friends, you know that will NOT get you the very most value out of those points!! You are a savvy traveler, who now knows that if you transfer those points OUT to airline and hotel partners of your card you can double to triple the amount you are able to travel!
For example, instead of needing 160,000+ points for ONE night at the uber luxe Park Hyatt Paris ($1,600+ cash cost!) in the portal…insteaddddd you can transfer those points to Hyatt and book that EXACT same room, for those EXACT same dates at 40,000 points and $0 a night.
Or how about a few nights in a fancy shmancy resort for a kid free getaway? Don’t blow 60,000+ points a night by booking the The Cape hotel in Cabo San Lucas in the portal. Again, transfer those points to Hyatt and reserve the that ocean FRONT hotel for 30,000 points/night and $0 in resort fees instead! (exact same hotel!!)
You could also use those points to Europe for your family! Instead of needing 100,000+ points per person (even more during peak summer!) in the portal for tickets to Europe and back, you can transfer those points to Air France and instead book those exact same tickets for around 40,000 points and $100-200 in taxes each!!
Literally doubling and TRIPLING the travel possible for your family. (More on this in my FREE Masterclass here!)
Chase points are SO valuable for Hyatt stays and you can just get SO much darn travel out of them by transferring them to Hyatt.
Chase is the only bank that offers Hyatt as a transfer partner, so these points are GOLD for saving on hotel stays (whether it be a ton of nights at a lower tier property or splurging on just a few nights at a 5 star resort!)
This is why the points earned from snagging the Chase Unlimited card are a wildly priceless (literally) opportunity to save on travel!
YES. Technically these no annual fee offers (on both the Unlimited and Cash versions of the Ink cards) are marketed as cash back cards.
You will see an advertised amount of cash back given to you for spending “x amount in x time” when signing up for one of these unicorn offers.
However, again because you are a savvy Wayfaren traveler– you know better than to use your points as cash back (although a free hundreds and hundreds of dollars is pretty darn nice).
You will move those points over to your “homebase” Chase card that allows you to transfer to airline and hotel partners…allowing this “cash back” to be turned into LOADS of points for nearly free travel!
Remember you will eventually want to get the Chase Sapphire (without a doubt the best overall travel rewards card you will want in your wallet long term!) or Chase Ink Business Preferred to be able to turn these points into transferrable BIG TRIP earning points!
Reason number 275838 why we LOVE these Ink offers. You can actually hold ALL THREE of the Ink cards in this family. So if you already have the Cash card, you can also get the Unlimited and Preferred…and all the other which ways. 🙂
And EVEN BETTER (I know, it just keeps getting sweeter and sweeter), each and every EIN and Social Security number can hold all three versions of this card.
So for example, we have an official LLC/EIN business (looking at you here Wayfaren :)), but I also am a sole proprietor and apply for business cards with my FB Marketplace resale side hustle (i.e. READ- I list a few old pieces of furniture a year online).
So just right there, between my EIN and sole proprietorship I am eligible for SIX offers of big juicy loads of Chase points (some of the most valuable points for travel to have in your pocket!!)
Ok and lastly even BETTER, BETTER (I know, you thought I was done)…
you can get the offer on these cards every 24 months!! So you can earn the welcome bonus AGAIN, 24 months after the time you got the bonus last time! WILD.
Again, I loveeee the Chase Ink Unlimited because it has a $0 annual fee and offers nearly everyone such an easy, no brainer way of racking up the easiest and biggest load of points for travel for my family!
Honestly, NO. There is ZERO downside or lose on this one…it’s a win, win allllll the way around. No ongoing annual fee, a huge load of valuable points for travel, and a sign up that doesn’t impact your personal credit long term??
Like I said, it would be SILLY not to snag this card! (And all the MORE magical if you can snag it during an elevated offer!)
As you can CLEARLY see, business cards can truly be the absolute secret sauce of earning your family bucket list trips for so (SO) much less.
One of my only regrets when it comes to points and miles, is that I didn’t jump into business cards sooner.
A few final notes:
Learning how to responsibly accumulate credit card points using the spending you were ALREADY going to do anyway….and then maximize those points for the MOST travel possible will get your family on more bucket list vacations than you ever thought possible!
