Big Picture: Need to Know
Specific hotel cards are going to earn you what I called “FIXED” points…not flexible points. If you are first starting out in your points+miles journey, you really want to focus on earning FLEXIBLE points first.

Hotel offers earn you points with that specific hotel brand, that can only be used for nights with that specific hotel brand.
So when it comes to signing up for a new hotel card offer I always keep 3 things in mind.
✔ Have a PLAN for your bonus: Do your research and have a specific vacation or property in mind before grabbing a new hotel offer. Allow the destination or specific property you want to stay at drive which card you go for!
✔ Know your Expirations: Know whether you are signing up for straight points OR Free Night Certificates (Points have more flexibility, FNCs EXPIRE 12 months after earning them)
✔ WAIT for elevated offers: Because hotel cards are earning you more fixed points, you want those points to go as FAR as possible. When possible, reallyyyyy try to hold out for increased bonuses on hotel cards!

✔ The offers on the Hyatt cards do not go elevated often and when they do it’s not by much
✔ This is the HIGHEST welcome bonus to date on this card
✔ You’ll want to snag this offer if you are shooting for Hyatt Globalist status!
